Major Update on Crypto.org Chain (25 May 2021)
Welcome to our newsletter! In this newsletter, we would like to share the major updates on our chain.
Crypto.org Chain
To align with our schedule announced in Crypto.org Chain Intergalactic Roadmap, we will launch Phase I - Canis Major and conduct our first major mainnet upgrade!
What is the update:
This upgrade allows Mainnet to be equipped with the NFT module. NFT (non-fungible token) represents uniquely identifiable tokens with common use cases such as art, gaming, and asset ownership, and we have always been researching and discovering different possibilities to support NFT natively on Crypto.org Chain. Once this upgrade is performed, minting, trading, and transfer of NFT will be available on the native Crypto.org Chain.
Other highlighted changes of the upgrade include:
- Arm64 architecture support (Linux and macOS) and
- Adjusted default timeout_commit used in the consensus process.
The complete changelog can be found here.
When will be the upgrade:
We have scheduled to upgrade our mainnet to the latest version of v2.0.1 on 1st June 2021 at 23:59 UTC.
Actions for validator/full nodes:
Since this will be a breaking change, all node operators should upgrade your node binary at the given upgrade time (1st June 2021 at 23:59 UTC), so that your node can continue to sync with the chain. Please do not perform the upgrade until the upgrade time. By then, you can follow the instructions to perform the upgrade, and the latest Crypto.org Chain chain-maind binary v2.0.1 is available for download here.
Crypto.org Chain Desktop Wallet
We have recently released the newer version of Crypto.org Chain Desktop Wallet v0.2.2. The desktop wallet supports staking operations, validator selections, governance voting, and other key functions to interact with the mainnet. In this new release, the following main changes have been made:
Data analytics feature added
Validator list view on redelegation flow added
Dependencies to secure versions updated
